How to Convert Stablecoins to M-PESA in Minutes
Most crypto cashout platforms make you hunt for a good rate. WireMe flips that. You post your transaction, and merchants come to you competing with each other to win your business. Pick the best rate, confirm the deal, and the funds land directly in your M-PESA. WireMe's smart contract escrow holds your stablecoins securely until the moment you're paid.
Here’s how each step works.
Step 1: Create Your Transaction
Open WireMe's app, navigate to your wallet and click Withdraw and enter the amount of stablecoins you want to sell. Once you confirm, your coins are transferred to the smart contract escrow and the transaction is published to the merchant network.
Step 2: Wait for Merchant Offers
Your transaction is now live and visible to WireMe’s verified merchants. Offers typically arrive within seconds to a few minutes, depending on the time of day and amount you’re selling.
You’ll receive a notification as soon as the first offer comes in. If you change your mind before accepting, you can cancel at no cost.
Step 3: Review and Accept an Offer
When offers come in, you'll see the total KES each merchant is willing to send you. Take the first offer, or hold out for a better one – the choice is yours.
Once you accept the offer, the escrow locks so no party can touch the funds until the transaction completes. It also locks in the rate you've accepted from the merchant.
Before confirming, double-check the M-PESA number on your transaction. That's exactly where the merchant will send the funds.
Step 4: Merchant Sends Your M-PESA Payment
With your stablecoins locked in escrow, the merchant now sends the agreed KES amount directly to your M-PESA. Most merchants move quickly – typically within a few minutes of acceptance.
Keep your M-PESA notifications on so you catch the payment the moment it arrives.
If a merchant fails to send, your stablecoins stay secured in escrow. You'll have the option to raise a dispute, and WireMe's process takes it from there.
Step 5: Confirm Receipt
This is the most important step. Before confirming receipt, open your M-PESA app and verify that the amount matches exactly what was agreed.
Only confirm once you've done that check. Confirming receipt releases funds in the escrow to the merchant.
If the amount is wrong, or nothing arrived at all, raise a dispute. Your stablecoins stay locked in escrow, and WireMe support will step in to resolve the issue.
Step 6: Transaction Complete
Once you confirm, the escrow settles and the stable coins are released to the merchant. Your transaction moves to Completed and you’ll see a full summary including the exchange rate, KES received, and a link to the on-chain record.
WireMe’s escrow model means your funds are protected at every step. If you have questions during a transaction, WireMe support is available.
