Requirements

Tier 1 verification requires only your Kenyan national ID number. There's no physical ID required. If you know your ID number, you're ready to go.

Follow the steps below to complete Tier 1 verification. The entire process takes under 2 minutes.

When prompted during onboarding, answer the verification questionnaire and select Tier 1 Verification. You'll be redirected to SmileID, our identity verification partner, to complete the process.

Verify Your ID Number with SmileID

SmileID will ask you to enter your Kenyan national ID number. Fill out the short form and submit — you'll be redirected back to WireMe automatically once it's done.

SmileID is a trusted identity verification provider used across Africa. Your data is handled securely and not stored by WireMe.

Verification Results

SmileID typically processes results within 1–10 minutes. Once you're back in WireMe's onboarding flow, tap the refresh icon to check your verification status.

If your status hasn't updated after 10 minutes, try refreshing again before reaching out to support.
